Hi, I'm Joe. I mainly work on articles about archaeology and biographies of scientists. I'm also an administrator on the English Wikipedia and was a member of its Arbitration Committee in 2019–2020. In my behind-the-scenes work I try to focus on preserving good content and encouraging new editors, which has led me to new page patrol, articles for deletion, and dispute resolution.

Off Wikipedia, I'm a computational archaeologist, studing the economy and human ecology of the first farming societies in prehistoric Southwest Asia. My homepage has more information about my off-wiki work.

I have two alternate accounts: Joe Roe (mobile) (talk · contribs) for when I'm travelling and Joe Robot (talk · contribs) for semi-automated edits.

  •   What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar hank you for coming up with the idea for Administrative action review and seeing it through the RfC process. Not only is it a solution to a concrete gap in our review processes, it promises cultural change by challenging the equation of sysop and administrator. I'm looking forward to its impacts, and I'm excited to working together to ensure it succeeds. Wug·a·po·des 19:52, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
