About Me

edit

My areas of interest include Indo-European studies, Semitic linguistics, Slavic Languages, Pushkin, Historical Chinese Phonology, Literature of the Tang and Song dynasties, sociolinguistics, philosophy of translation, Catalan literature, Esperanto literature, and Medieval Persian literature.

On Wikipedia I mainly work on articles dealing with the literature of the pre-modern (i.e. 632–1918) Islamic world. I also contribute to articles dealing with Near Eastern and Far Eastern linguistic phenomena, including Middle Chinese, Palestinian Arabic, Andalusian Arabic, Persian phonology and the Egyptian language. The Canaanite Shift is largely my creation.

I've made it a habit to monitor language articles which are an object of popular attention such as Latin spelling and pronunciation and Ancient Greek phonology so as to make sure they don't get too deformed.

I've also started expanding the info on dialects of Chinese.

Articles I Have Created

Slavic microlanguages, Adel Karasholi, Raymond C Kelly, Jeanne-Marie Cash
