Hi, Please learn correct citation style. We don't put links directly from the text to the outside. Wikipedia:Citing sources is a place to start, but also you can check how other editors do it. Even when you move the links to the correct place, you should give more than a raw url as they always disappear eventually. Give an author, if possible, title, name of publication, date, so that dead links can be refreshed later. Incidentally, INN is not considered a reliable source for information about settlements so you should replace it. I will leave what you wrote at Migdal Oz for now to give you the chance to fix it, but fixing it is essential. Zerotalk 00:21, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also, you marked your edits as "minor" but they are not. See Help:minor edits. Zerotalk 00:22, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I saw you amended some of the text, and sourced it to the village website. However, the village website says that its text is sourced from Wikipedia, so it cannot be used as a reference. The Hebrew wiki article is very well referenced, so I would advise translating from there instead. Cheers, Number 57 22:26, 30 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

    Hi, I don't know if you missed this comment? Number 57 10:42, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
HI, your comment was very helpfull and i added more refferences as you advised, if you can help more to enrich the article please do so. Owenglyndur (talk) 11:18, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apologies if I wasn't clear initially – I wasn't asking for more sources, I was suggesting a complete rewrite of the early history section, basing it on translating the Hebrew Wikipedia's history of the village and using those sources. I have now deleted the bit sourced from a source that used Wikipedia as its source. Number 57 21:12, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your contributions to Burial Stone. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Your submission at Articles for creation: Hirbet Danila (April 4)

    edit

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by DoubleGrazing were:
This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs multiple published sources that are:
  • reliable
  • secondary
  • independent of the subject
  • Make sure you add references that meet these criteria before resubmitting. Learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

    Translating

    edit

Hi, I noticed that you're translating articles from he.wiki, which is great. Most of them are probably okay, but just bear in mind that articles need to pass our (en.wiki) requirements for referencing, notability, etc. In other words, merely existing in another language version of Wikipedia is not enough to justify inclusion in another version, as each version is an entirely separate project with their own rules and requirements (and, AFAIK at least, en.wiki is probably the strictest in that sense). Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:43, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

    Ok,

    edit

Thanks for your contributions to Hovlata. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it's a text dump of a Google translation of a Hebrew Wikipedia article. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

    Roman roads in Judaea

    edit

I moved "Roman roads in Judaea/Palaestina" to Roman roads in Judaea and created a redirect from "Roman roads in Palaestina". The article looks like it is mainly about Judaea and that tile is concise and easier for the reader. Cheers.       Hello Owenglyndur! Your additions to Ein Gedi synagogue have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Richard Nevell (talk) 19:37, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Owenglyndur, the same issue is evident in your newly created article, Ein Gedi (archaeological site). In your edit summary you indicated that the article has been translated from the Hebrew Wikipedia; is there perhaps a problem with the Hebrew Wikipedia entries on these two topics? Richard Nevell (talk) 19:11, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your comments, I did my best in the translation and editing so there will not be any copy violations. Please can you let me know where? how? can you see copy issues? Owenglyndur (talk) 07:34, 10 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Using Google Translate to check the Hebrew version of the entry for Ein Gedi archaeological site, the two paragraphs of text identified as being a copyright violation are not present; they were added before the text currently at the start of the 'היסטוריה' section.
With the article on the Ein Gedi synagogue, the situation seems to be the same with the copyrighted text introduced before the text at the start of the section titled 'ממצאי החפירות'. It also appears that your edit to the Hebrew article introduced a copyright violation.
Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policy regarding copyright violations? Wikipedia:Copyright violations.
It looks like content has been copied from journal articles and pasted into Wikipedia with minimal changes. Unless the text is already available under a Wikipedia compatible open licence, this is a breach of copyright. Richard Nevell (talk) 19:18, 10 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regarding your first comment, your complain is about a text that isn't there anymore? did i understand you correctly?
Regarding your second comment i revised the text, i hope it is suitable now Owenglyndur (talk) 12:06, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The issue is that though your edit summary when creating the article on Ein Gedi (archaeological site) indicated you translated the article from Hebrew, you introduced copyrighted text from another source. This has since been removed, as has some copyrighted text at Ein Gedi synagogue, but there may be other instances, especially as I have also discovered issues with Khirbet el-Qutt.
The part of the synagogue article that you reworded in this edit does not appear to have been copied from the source, so was not problematic for that reason.
You've created dozens of articles in just a couple of months. May I suggest that you change focus to checking over the content you have created to make sure that it isn't breaching Wikipedia's policy on copyright violations? If it has happened it is something that can be fixed, but if we don't address it now I am concerned that it will get out of hand. There are training materials like this module which explain copyright and how to avoid plagiarism and close paraphrasing. Richard Nevell (talk) 18:11, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

There is now evidently some level of copyright violation in Deir ed Darb‎. If I find more evidence of copyright violations, I will look into opening an investigation. Richard Nevell (talk) 22:26, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Khirbet Kelafa

    edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Khirbet Kelafa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nominationbyvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.       Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 16:28, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

    Introduction to contentious topics

    edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
