Plan to join us for an inclusive and fun one-day event. We are planning to bring together diverse communities to create and work on Wikipedia articles related to women in the arts. You can learn more about the gender gap at WikiProject Women and read more about the Art+Feminism campaign on their page.
This event is hosted by the UT student organization Advocating for Women in Technology (AWIT), UT Fine Arts Library, and Blanton Museum of Art and is open to the community.
The entrance to the Fine Arts Library is on the third floor of the Doty Fine Arts Building which is connected to and immediately west of the Bass Concert Hall. A map can be found on the main UT Libraries site.
Wheel chair access is available: Enter the building from the west entrance off of Trinity Street which is the second floor. Take the elevator from the second floor to the third floor. Both the west entrance of the building and the entrance to the Fine Arts Library have handicapped-accessible doors.
See About and Visitor Information on the Fine Art Library's website for more information about the venue.
No Wikipedia editing experience is necessary. If you are unfamiliar with Wikipedia, you can get started with this this training module. Editing "Cheat Sheets" will be available during the event and friendly volunteers will be on hand to help answer your editing questions. Women editors, especially women of color and diverse gender expression, are particularly encouraged to attend.
We plan to offer "Getting Started" tutorials each hour: the first will be at 12:15pm, and we'll repeat the tutorial at 1:15pm, 2:15pm, 3:15pm and the final tutorial will be at 4pm.
