Deer Grove is a village located in Whiteside County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 48.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.0 km² (0.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.00% water.

Demographics

As of the censusof2000, there are 48 people, 21 households, and 12 families residing in the village. The population density is 40.3/km² (105.3/mi²). There are 22 housing units at an average density of 18.5 persons/km² (48.3 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 91.67% White, 2.08% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 6.25% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 8.33% of the population are HispanicorLatino of any race.

There are 21 households out of which 28.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 38.1% are non-families. 33.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 23.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.29 and the average family size is 2.92.

In the village the population is spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 71.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 76.2 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $44,167, and the median income for a family is $43,750. Males have a median income of $32,500 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the village is $16,651. 5.7% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
