Template:Infobox Spacecraft Goliat is the first artificial satellite developed in Romania.
The nano satellite was developed and built by the Romanian Space Agency (RSA). It has been designed by a team of engineers and physicists. The project has started ever since the three key people of this project were in university.
The satellite is cube-shaped and has a weight of 1 kilogram, and its dimensions are 10 cm on each side. It is built on a Cubesat platform. The satellite carries three scientific missions: determining the flux of micrometeorites, determining the incoming cosmic radiation into the Earth's orbit and it also has an image captor with a three-megapixel sensor, which will be used to observe the Earth.
The project has received funding from the Romanian Ministry of Education.
The project has also received support from the European Space Agency.
Although the initial launch was planned for 2008, the project has been postponed due to some issues with the carrier rocket, Vega.
After a series of delays, the satellite has been successfully launched in January the 13th 2012, from the Guiana Space Centre. It has been launched along with other CubeSat satellites, coming from other European countries.
