===Adopts Pro-Abortion Position===

Sometime before October 12, 2022, KNOP-TV fired its News Director and co-anchor, Melanie Standiford, for "practicing partisan politics" because she had distributed a Pro-Life petition at St John's Lutheran Church. The petition was for a ballot initiative to declare the town of Curtis (population of 939 according to 2010 data). Curtis is one of six neighboring communities in that area of Nebraska with Pro-Life "Sanctuary City" ballot initiatives.

"Standiford told her boss in reply: 'I didn’t think I was being political with that in my home church, sitting in the pews in my church.'"<ref>{{cite news |last1=Heipel |first1=Edie |title=Christian newscaster fired for circulating pro-life petition speaks out |url=https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/252532/christian-newscaster-fired-for-circulating-pro-life-petition-speaks-out |access-date=15 October 2022 |publisher=Catholic News Agency |date=October 12, 2022}}</ref>
