Madifushi (Dhivehi : މަޑިފުށި) is one of the inhabited islands of Thaa Atoll .
History
Recent History
On 26 December 2004, the Indian ocean tsunami left the island devastated, however the inhabitants refused to move out or relocate and still remains inhabited, almost every household was rebuilt by the help of foreign aid over a span of ten years.
Geography
Madifushi, after the 2015 land reclamation, is the fifth largest inhabited island by area in the atoll. It is located 26 km NNE of Thimarafushi and 201.97 km (125 mi; 109 nmi) south of the country's capital, Malé .[1]
