Orthopterology (from Ancient Greek ὀρθός (straight) and πτερόν (wing); and -λογία -logia.), is the scientific study of the order Orthoptera, which includes grasshoppers, crickets, locusts and other insects. Someone that studies in this field is a orthopterist.
A notable subgroup of orthopterology is Acridology, which focuses on locusts and grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, in the efforts of famine prevention. [1]
