Pølser is the Danish word for sausage (Plural, sg. Pølse). Visiters to Denmark immediately learn this word, for pølser are a very important part of everyday culture in Denmark and an ingrediant in the national hot dog.
One is presented with a choice with the Danish hot dog: whether one wants ristet pølseorkogt pølse. The first is a Bratwurst (ristet means roasted) and the second a type of sausage that has precooked and preprocessed meat that is cooked a second time.
The most noticable aspect of the Pølser is that in Denmark they often contain a traditional red dye (rød pølse).
