The waterway is also host to the [[San Antonio River Walk]], one of San Antonio's primary tourist destinations and the centerpiece of the city, with several river improvement projects occurring so far. The Riverwalk was extended to the north in 2009, and that section of the river is now called the Museum Reach and features attractions such as the Pearl Brewery and the San Antonio Museum of Art.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.startribune.com/san-antonio-s-pearl-district-a-gem-of-a-hood/257613471/|title = San Antonio's Pearl district: A gem of a 'hood|website = [[Star Tribune]]}}</ref><ref>{{Cite news |last1=Kaye Perez |first1=Harry |last2=Kaye Perez |first2=Linda |date=2015-11-11 |title=River Walk's Museum Reach offers art, food, fun |work=La Vernia News |url=http://www.lavernianews.com/article.php?id=1839&n=featured-column-river-walks-museum-reach-offers-art-food-fun |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170213190120/http://www.lavernianews.com/article.php?id=1839&n=featured-column-river-walks-museum-reach-offers-art-food-fun |archive-date=2017-02-13}}</ref> In 2013, the Mission Reach stretch of the Riverwalk was opened in the south, which features hiking, biking, and paddling trails.<ref>{{Cite web |title=San Antonio River Improvements Project |url=http://www.sanantonioriver.org/mission_reach/mission_reach.php |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160819091515/http://www.sanantonioriver.org/mission_reach/mission_reach.php |archive-date=2016-08-19 |website=sanantonioriver.org}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Kayaking |url=https://www.mat-tx.com/kayaking.html |access-date=2023-07-01 |website=Mission Adventure Tours |language=en}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Bike Tours |url=https://www.mat-tx.com/bike-tours.html |access-date=2023-06-30 |website=Mission Adventure Tours}}</ref>
