Informal insight

For anyone researching this subject with respect to problems of accuracy in recording, see here, here, and here for some useful insight.   — C M B J   03:31, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

wikipedia creating nonsense in the cause of death article

I am very shocked to see how with editing, concerns about access to materials and other restrictions, a website that was displaying state of affairs in cause of death has mutated into a rather useless US biased information with references to OECD - and removing links to WHO materials that provide support and deal with the topic. I call this vandalism. And you block WHO IP addresses claiming vandalism from WHO.

This is of great concern, and misleading users looking up cause of death.

We will create our own page at WHO and also have to recommend to disregard wikipedia for this topic. Very very sorry about the ways you work.

I have some sympathy with Icdmaat above - the current article is very poor. It seemed a lot better 6 Aug 2016 before Doc James reverted way back to 6 May 2014. I fear the baby has been thrown out with the bathwater. What are the official instructions around the world on how to fill in the cause-of-death on a death certificate ? - Rod57 (talk) 08:26, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

what policies on multiple sequential causes

Death rates are given for dementia and arthritis - but how can someone die of arthritis ? - if arthritis makes you fall, break a limb, and die of a subsequent infection is the official cause of death (in a specific jurisdiction) : the arthritis, the fall, or the infection ? Do death certificates allow multiple causes ? If someone with dementia (or arthritis) falls and dies, is the usual policy to record the [probable?] cause of death as the dementia (unless perhaps there is clear evidence the fall was not due to the dementia) ? - Rod57 (talk) 08:39, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
