Ōtākaro FC is an association football club in Christchurch, New Zealand and is part of Mainland Football's federation. They currently do not have any senior teams, only youth teams. This is their second season as a club.

History[edit]

In 2023, six clubs on the eastern side of Christchurch merged their Boys Youth teams to provide the players with the best possible option for aspirational youth players in the area. The six clubs that helped create the new Ōtākaro FC were Burwood, Coastal Spirit, Ferrymead Bays, Parklands United, St Albans-Shirley, and Western.[1][2] The club had success in their premier season, with the 13th grade boys winning their league, the 14th grade boys winning their league, the 15th grade boys coming runners-up in their league, and the 17th grade boys coming fifth out of six in their league.[3] The 17th grade boys also competed in the Youth Southern League for qualification to the Youth National League, coming eighth and winning one match.

In 2024, Ōtākaro will also run 14th and 16th grade girls teams in their respective top leagues.[4]
