772 Tanete is an asteroid from the asteroid belt. Since 2004 it has been observed in stellar occultation four times.[3] Its size is best described by an ellipsoid measuring 124.1±1.2 kmx116.1±1.2 km. Analysis of a light curve captured during 2014 shows a synodic rotation periodof17.258±0.001 h with an amplitude of 0.15 magnitude.[4]

In 1984, a fly-by of 772 Tanete was considered for a Mariner Mark II rendezvous mission with the short period comet 22P/Kopff.[5]
