82nd parallel north
The 82nd parallel north is a circle of latitude that is 82 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane, in the Arctic. It passes through the Arctic Ocean and North America.
At this latitude the sun is visible for 24 hours during the summer solstice and astronomical twilight during the winter solstice.
The world's northernmost continuously-inhabited settlement is the weather station and military facility of Alert in Nunavut.
