CKLK-FM is a radio station licensed to Grimsby, Ontario, Canada, serving the Niagara Region broadcasting at 88.5 FM with a classic hits format branded as 88.5 The Lake.

    History[edit]

The station was first licensed in 2018 with the call sign CKLK-FM. On July 11, 2018, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission approved Durham Radio's application for a new FM radio station serving Grimsby at 88.5 MHz.[1]

On August 11, 2020, the CRTC denied Durham Radio's application to change the unlaunched station's class from A to B1, decreasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 2,000 to 1,530 watts, increasing the maximum ERP from 4,000 to 5,000 watts, increasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 6 to 124.5 metres, and amending the coordinates of the transmitter site.[2] The CRTC again denied Durham Radio's application to change the effecttive radiated power and antenna height for the unlaunched CKLK-FM on November 12, 2021. [3]

On October 5, 2022, the CRTC approved Durham Radio's application to decrease the maximum effective radiated power (ERP) from 4,000 watts to 3,600 watts, decreasing the average ERP from 2,005 watts to 1,800 watts, increasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain (EHAAT) from 6.0 to 28.2 metres and amending the existing coordinates of the transmitter site. [4]

The station was officially launched on August 30, 2023, with a classic hits format as 88.5 The Lake, The Greatest Hits of All Time. The station's weekday on-air team is the same as sister station 92.9 The Grand, from 10am to midnight. The stations also share the same slogan and radio format of classic hits.
