Castanea × neglecta, the chinknut,[2] is a named hybrid chestnut tree; it is a cross between Castanea dentata (American chestnut) and Castanea pumila (Allegany chinquapin).[3][1] It was first formally namedbyLouis-Albert Dode in 1908.[4] The chinknut is native to the southeastern United States.[3][1]
