Homogonizing this category with the FBI page[edit]
Apparently there are two different schemas for the categories for ICE and FBI. This has resulted in confusion for adding different operations to categories. This needs to be homogenized.
There is currently a category Category:Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations
Category:U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Which are redundant of each other.
However Category:Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations was created to mirror the Category:Federal Bureau of Investigation operations.
The community needs to decide which of these two naming schemas is the most desirable for the category to assign the operations. Then the two ICE related categories need to be merged and one of them deleted and setup with a redirect. eximo (talk) 17:44, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One issue is that the items in the category U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are not all enforcement operations. So it's not as easy as just going through and changing each of the links. Do we want to remove all of the operations from the category U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and move them down to U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement operations? I think I've already copied them all already, so the task would for me to just remove U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from each of the pages manually. eximo (talk) 21:26, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they should be removed from the parent category. (There are a couple exceptions with non-diffusing categories and main articles stay in the parent category too.) But next time, you can just move them to the subcategory as you go so you don't have to go through twice.
