From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chrysomma is a songbird genus. It is quite closely related to the parrotbills, and is therefore a member of the family Paradoxornithidae.
Taxonomy[edit]
The genus Chrysomma was introduced in 1843 by the English zoologist Edward Blyth. He designated the type speciesasTimalia hypoleuca Franklin 1831.[1] This taxon is now one of subspecies of the yellow-eyed babbler.[2][3][4] The genus name combines the Ancient Greek khrusos meaning "gold" and omma meaning "eye".[5]
The genus contains two species:[4]
