    Criminal Record is a British crime thriller television series created by Paul Rutman. It consists of eight episodes, and premiered on Apple TV+ on 10 January 2024. The next month, it was confirmed that the second season is in the works.[1]

    Two detectives, one a seasoned veteran and the other early in her career, clash on an old murder case after an anonymous phone call draws them to it.

    Production[edit]

    It was announced in June 2022 that Apple TV+ had ordered the series, which had begun production in London, with Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo starring.[3] Paul Rutman will write, while Jim Loach and Shaun James Grant will serve as directors.[4][5] Additional casting was revealed in August 2022.[6]

    The first two episodes of the eight-part series premiered on 10 January 2024 on Apple TV+.[7]

    Reception[edit]

    Criminal Record received generally positive reviews, with a Metacritic score of 73 out of 100, based on 19 critic reviews.[8] Rotten Tomatoes reported a 89% approval rating with an average rating of 7.8/10, based on 47 critic reviews; the website's critics consensus reads, "With the formidable pairing of Cush Jumbo and Peter Capaldi providing a scintillating focal point, Criminal Record is a mystery that only gets more intriguing as it unfolds."[9]
