Cryosleep is the debut solo album by the Muse songwriter Matt Bellamy, released for Record Store Day by Globalist Industries on 17 June 2021 as a 12" LP.[1] The record also comes with an exclusive songbook and gatefold LP.[2]

Overview

[edit]

Overall, the album consists of coversofSimon & Garfunkel's "Bridge over Troubled Water" and three Muse tracks, the track "Pray" from the album For the Throne: Music Inspired by the HBO Series Game of Thrones, and the track "Fever" by The Jaded Hearts Club.[2][3] One of the Muse covers, "Guiding Light" was recorded with the same guitar Jeff Buckley used on his only studio album Grace, which Bellamy stated he would use on future Muse albums.[2][4][5] In 2020, when asked about the guitar, Bellamy said “I had a whole team of people doing due diligence on it to make sure it was absolutely the right guitar, interviewing his family and all sorts."[6] The record also contains previously released solo tracks, "Behold, The Glove" and "Tomorrow's World".[4] Before the album's release, Bellamy announced that three of the 10 tracks would be auctioned off as NFTs, the tracks "Tomorrow's World", the as well as the Muse covers "Unintended" and "Guiding Light".[7] The NFT auction was held on the website Cryptograph and overall made 73,000 dollars.[8]
