On September 1, 2023, Valencia competed in her local pageant, Miss Baguio where she received the title and was crowned as Miss Baguio Turismo 2023.[3] This lead to her appointment as Miss Universe Philippines Baguio 2024.
On February 19, 2024, Valencia was introduced as a representative of Baguio competing in Miss Universe Philippines 2024 among 53 other candidates.[5] Soon after the introduction of the pageants candidates, Valencia was named as a candidate to "look out for" by Mega, describing her as a "queen from Baguio, [that] brings a touch of class and sophistication to the stage, with her statuesque frame and a resume that reads like a travel brochure."[6] During the preliminary interview, Valencia stated her advocacy on the importance of sustainable and responsible tourism.[7]
During the preliminary competition, special awards were given out to the competitors by sponsors where Valencia was awarded Miss Mags and Miss Villa Medica.[8]
On the coronation night, Valencia advanced to the top 5, alongside Ahtisa Manalo, Stacey Daniella Gabriel, Chelsea Manalo, and Christi Lynn McGarry.[9] During the final question and answer round, Valencia was asked, "What is your breakthrough or big achievement? How did it improve you as a person?" In which she answered:
"To be in this prestigious pageant, Miss Universe Philippines 2024, is my greatest achievement. The Tarah before is someone who really limited herself when it came to her achievements. I stepped here on Miss Universe Philippines, and I see the transformation and improvement and how I was able to become the inspirational woman that I am now and that is somewhat something that I will be proud of after this journey."[10]
