Edward Deering Mansfield (August 17, 1801 —October 27, 1880), was an American lawyer, journalist and writer.

    Biography[edit]

Mansfield was born in New Haven, Connecticut, son of Jared Mansfield.[1] He graduated from West Point in 1818, but declined to enter the army and studied at Princeton, from which he graduated in 1822. Mansfield died at his country home called Yamoyden near Morrow, Ohio.
