Unincorporated community in Mississippi, United States
Hurricane is an unincorporated community in Pontotoc County , Mississippi , United States.[1] Esperanza , but the name changed due to being impacted by several severe storms.
History [ edit ]
The Esperanza Post Office was established in 1871[2] [3] [3] [2] [4]
On April 27, 2011, a tornado touched down in the Esperanza area as part of the 2011 Super Outbreak , but apparently caused no damage.[5]
^ The coordinates given are for the junction of Hurricane Road and Esperanza Road, the approximate center of the current community. This is between the GNIS coordinates for Esperanza and Hurricane.
