Nixon presented the Nation's highest civilian award, The Medal of Freedom, to eight journalists, one posthumously April 22nd at a White House white-tie dinner. L-R: w:Robert M. McHargue, who accepted the award for his grandfather w:Bill Henry, of the Los Angeles Times, who died last week; w:Earl Behrens, San Francisco Chronicle; w:Edward Folliard, former Washington Post correspondent; w:Arthur Krock, former New York Times columnist; Nixon; Mrs. w:Adlea Rogers St. Johns, Hearst Newspapers; w:David Lawrence, U.S. News and World Report; w:Gould Lincoln, Washington Star; and w:Raymond Moley, Newsweek Magazine.
