It was announced in March 2020 that Isla Fisher was cast to star in the series, which was greenlit by CBS All Access.[3] However by December, Fisher would exit the series due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, with Kate Beckinsale cast to replace her.[4] In March 2021, Geoff Stults, Jules Latimer, Tiya Sircar, Alanna Ubach, Laurie Davidson and Andre Hyland were added to the cast.[5]

Filming in the series had begun by March 2021 in Calgary.[6]
