India Ahead, an English-language news channel in India, is operated by the Andhra Prabha Media Group. Launched in June 2018, the channel offers a news, current affairs, entertainment, sports, and business content. It provides coverage from both Indian and international viewpoints. India Ahead is the first English news channel to be broadcast from South India.

History[edit]

Andhra Prabha entered into the space of broadcasting with an Indian television channel dedicated to news in English.[1]  The channel's headquarters is situated in Hyderabad, India, with studios in Delhi and Hyderabad.[2]

Editorial team[edit]

India Ahead was led by Chetan Sharma as Founding CEO and Editorial Director.[3] In June 2020, Andhra Prabha Group’s MD Mootha Goutam announced senior management changes to the channel. While the founding CEO Chetan Sharma has moved on, the channel has made a series of senior appointments. Former CNN-News18 Sudeep Mukhia has joined India Ahead as Group President, News Room Operations & Editorial Strategies.[4] Bhupendra Chaubey is the editor in chief, and Sudha Sadanand is the Editorial President.[citation needed][5]

Ratings[edit]

The channel became the No.1 channel, in terms of average time spent by viewers during the Budget Week, among all English News Channels in India.[6]  Also, the channel is performing well in the Southern Indian States such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu[7] and Karnataka.[citation needed]

Distribution[edit]

India Ahead is available on all major direct to home platforms and cable television operators[8] as a Free-to-Air channel.[9] Also, the channel is available through its mobile app on the Google Play store[10] and the App Store.
