In that season Rodgers returned 53 kickoffs for 1,295 yards. Professional career

[edit]

Indianapolis Colts

[edit]

Rodgers Sr. was selected by the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL) with the 211th pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft in a pick acquired in a trade with the New York Jets in exchange for Quincy Wilson.[2] Rodgers scored his first career touchdown on a 101-yard kick return in a Week 5 loss to the Cleveland Browns.[4]

On December 28, 2022, the Colts placed Rodgers on season–ending injured reserve with a knee injury he suffered in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He finished the year with 34 tackles, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.[5]

In June 2023, Rodgers was probed by the NFL for violations of the league's gambling policy. He was accused of opening a sportsbook account under the name of a personal associate and making roughly one hundred bets, including bets on his own team.[6] On June 28, 2023, ESPN reported that Rodgers, among several other NFL players, would be suspended for the entirety of the 2023 NFL season for violating the league's policy on gambling.[7] Shortly after the suspension was announced, Rodgers was waived by the Colts along with teammate Rashod Berry.[8]

Philadelphia Eagles

[edit]

On August 28, 2023, Rodgers was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, but sat out the entire season due to his suspension.[9] On April 23, 2024, Rodgers was reinstated by the NFL.[10]
