Kotaro Daigo (Japanese: 醍醐 虎汰朗, Hepburn: Daigo Kotarō, born 1 September 2000) is a Japanese actor from Tokyo, affiliated with A-Light.[1] He is known for voicing Hodaka Morishima in Weathering With You.

Early life and career[edit]

Kotaro Daigo, a native of Tokyo, was born on 1 September 2000.[1] Originally part of the junior high school soccer team, he left and started a career in acting because he had long admired the entertainment industry.[2]

Daigo starred in the Yowamushi Pedal stage adaptations, starring as Sakamichi Onoda in the February and March 2017 production Yowamushi Pedal Shin Interhigh-hen: Start Line.[3] He later reprised his role in the October 2017 production Yowamushi Pedal Shin Interhigh-hen: Heat Up and March 2018 productions Yowamushi Pedal Shin Interhigh-hen: Hakone Gakuen Ōja Fukukaku.[4][5] He was later replaced by Taishu Nukanobu for the May 2019 stage play Yowamushi Pedal Shin Interhigh-hen: Limit Breaker.[6]

In November 2018, Daigo was cast as Hodaka Morishima in Weathering With You.[7] He and co-star Nana Mori had been chosen from among two thousand auditionees to play the main characters.[8] In 2020, he won the Seiyu Awards for Best Rookie Actor at the 14th Seiyu Awards.[9]

In 2019, he starred as Daisei Yoshida in the asadora Maiagare!.[10] He and Hiroki Miura played Haku in the 2022 stage adaptation of Spirited Away and its August 2023 encore at the Misono-zainNagoya.[11][12] In March 2023, he was cast as Yusuke Ogino, the main character of the 2023 drama adaptation of Ciguatera.[13]
