Kovrovsky District (Russian: Ковро́вский райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[8] district (raion), one of the sixteeninVladimir Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,817 square kilometers (702 sq mi).^[3] Its administrative center is the cityofKovrov^[2] (which is not administratively a part of the district).^[6] Population: 30,174 (2021 Census);^[10] 31,477 (2010 Russian census);^[4] 31,148 (2002 Census);^[11] 30,044 (1989 Soviet census).^[12]

Administrative and municipal status[edit]

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Kovrovsky District is one of the sixteen in the oblast.^[1] The city of Kovrov serves as its administrative center,^[2] despite being incorporated separately^[6] as an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.^[1]

As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Kovrovsky Municipal District.^[8] The City of Kovrov is incorporated separately from the district as Kovrov Urban Okrug.^[13]
