Liza Butler is the daughter of two primary school teachers.
Prior to starting her own business, Liza worked for the Department of Ageing, Disability & Homecare and then for Centrelink.
Liza was elected to Shoalhaven City Council[4] in 2021. On 25 March 2023 Liza was elected as the Member for South Coast in the NSW Legislative Assembly.[5] Following Liza's election to NSW Parliament and subsequent resignation as a Shoalhaven City Councillor, a count back of the December 2021 Local Government Ward 3 Shoalhaven City Council election was conducted by the Electoral Commission. Councillor Gillian Boyd was declared elected as the new Ward 3 representative by the Returning Officer. [6]
Since joining parliament, Liza became an active member of several parliamentary committees.
On 11 May 2023 Liza became a Member of the Legislative Assembly Select Committee on Remote, Rural and Regional Health. [7] The Select Committee is working on the implementation of all 44 recommendations of the Legislative Council's report into the health outcomes and access to health and hospital services in rural, regional, and remote New South Wales. [8]
On 23 May 2023 Liza was a Member of the Legislative Assembly Select Committee on the Residential Tenancies Amendment (Rental Fairness) Bill 2023.
On 22 June 2023 Liza became a Member of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Community Services.
On 13 September 2023 Liza became a Member of the Joint Select Committee on Protecting Local Water Utilities from Privatisation. [9]
