Look is a 2009 short film written and directed by Ryan Pickett. This Dream inspired movie examines the emptiness that accompanies beauty. When a model walks into a restaurant, barmaid Emma fantasizes. She glamorizes the life of the model. As the imaginary plain man John, Emma follows the model onto the set of a photo shoot. Escapism is a short relief for Emma who must eventually face her mundane life.

Look is about a barmaid, Emma (Starina Johnson), who is caught in a daydream when interrupted by a lost model (Theresa Meeker). The desire for beauty reveals an unsettling emptiness.

Premier and distribution[edit]

Look premiered at the Regal Cinemas theatre in Green Hills, Tennessee in Spring 2009.^[1] The short film was distributed on online video streaming services such as IndieFlix and Indiepix Films.^[8]

Production[edit]

Look was directed, co-written, produced, and edited by Ryan Pickett. He was a top five finalist in the Race to BE entrepreneurship competition hosted by Russell Simmons in Los Angeles.^[9][10] Look was shot with the Red One 4K in Nashville, Tennessee.^[2]
