Motorheads

Motorheads is an upcoming American coming-of-age drama television series created by John A. Norris for Amazon Prime Video.

Premise[edit]

In a rust belt township in Pennsylvania, a group of outsiders bond over their love for cars and racing.^[1]

• Ryan Phillippe as Logan Maddox, a former NASCAR mechanic who now owns an auto body shop in his hometown of Ironwood, Pennsylvania. Logan is having trouble keeping his shop afloat and lives in the shadow of his infamous brother, Christian Maddox.^[2]
• Nathalie Kelley as Samantha, an ER nurse who’s just left her job in New York City to move back with her kids to her rust-belt hometown.^[2]
• Michael Cimino as Zac Maddox, Christian's son who knows his dad was a street racing legend in Ironwood, and is desperately trying to live up to his father’s reputation as the best there ever was.^[2]
• Melissa Collazo as Caitlyn Maddox, Zac’s sister and a mechanical wiz who’s passionate about cars and knows how to fix them. Caitlyn hopes that moving to her parents’ hometown will help her get a clue into the disappearance of their father.^[2]
• Uriah Shelton as Curtis, somewhat of an outsider and a skilled young mechanic who crafted his motorcycle from scratch. He strives to keep a distance from the world of his older brother, Ray.^[3]

• Drake Rodger as Ray, Curtis’ charismatic brother who seems like a good guy but isn’t afraid to be on the wrong side of the law.^[4]
• Johnna Dias-Watson as Kiara, the daughter of the town’s mayor who is torn between the popular crowd and her new friends.^[4]
• Josh Macqueen as Harris, the entitled, popular high school alpha dog whose powerful family owns most of the businesses in Ironwood. He’s the formidable champion of the local street racing scene.^[4]
• Mia Healey as Alicia, the daughter of a tech company founder who finds herself entangled in the shifting dynamics of the old town and the allure of what’s new.^[4]
• Matt Lanter as Darren, a wealthy and powerful father of 17-year-old Harris, who, like his dad, is a serious street racer.^[5]
• Sophia Esperanza as Ryan, who is described as fun and dangerous. She’s the leader of a street crew from outside Ironwood, but she has a special connection to the town.^[5]

Production[edit]

The series was commissioned by Amazon Prime Video in November 2023. It is written by John A. Norris who is also the series showrunner and executive producer. Jason Seagraves also executive produces. It is produced by Jax Media and Amazon MGM Studios.^[2] Dana Brunetti and Keegan Rosenberger are executive producers and Jake Fuller is executive producer on behalf of Jax Media. Ruben Fleischer is director for the pilot and Ryan Zaragoza is co-executive producer.^[6] In March 2024, Neil Burger joined as director, replacing Ruben Fleischer, and executive producer.^[7]

Casting[edit]

The cast includes Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley, Michael Cimino and Melissa Collazo. In December 2023, Uriah Shelton joined the cast,^[3] with Drake Rodger, Johnna Dias-Watson, Josh Macqueen and Mia Healey joining in recurring roles.^[4] In May 2024, Matt Lanter and Sophia Esperanza were cast in recurring roles.^[5]

Filming[edit]

Filming was scheduled to commence from July-November 2023, but was delayed by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.^[8] Production officially began on March 25, 2024 in Toronto, Canada.^[9][10] In April 2024, parts of filming took place in Hamilton, Ontario in the Carlisle and Flamborough neighborhoods,^[11] and began filming in downtown Paris, Ontario locally on April 16, being first of five visits until July. Filming also took place at Penman’s Dam Park and Bean Park in Brant, Ontario,^[12] and at the historic Blackfriars Bridge in London.^[13] Filming is scheduled to conclude July 22, 2024.^[10][14][15]
