Muramic acid is an amino sugar acid. In terms of chemical composition, it is the etheroflactic acid and glucosamine. It occurs naturally as N-acetylmuramic acidinpeptidoglycan, whose primary function is a structural component of many typical bacterial cell walls.[1]
