Noam Yaacov (Hebrew: נועם יעקב; born October 20, 2004) is an Israeli–Danish professional basketball player for Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israeli Super League. He plays at the point guard position.

Early years[edit]

Yaacov was born in Denmark, just outside of Copenhagen, to a Danish mother (Sidsel) and an Israeli-Jewish father (Yonatan), he was raised in Denmark.[1] In July 2018, at the age of 13, he immigrated to Israel without his parents, living with his grandparents.[2] In Israel he resides in HaOgen, a kibbutz where his grandparents also live.[3]

Professional career[edit]

On July 5, 2021, Yaacov signed a contract with ASVEL Basket of the LNB Pro A and the EuroLeague.[4] On September 13, 2022, Yaacov made his debut for the team, recording 11 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds.[5] In 2021-22 he averaged 7.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.1 steals in 17.1 minutes per game over 38 games.[6]

In 2022-23 with ASVEL Basket he averaged 17.8 points, 8.2 assists, and 1.5 steals in 31.0 minutes per game over 13 games.[6]

On January 4, 2023, Yaacov was loanedtoHapoel Jerusalem until the end of 2022–23 season.[7][8] He and the team won the 2022–23 Israeli Basketball State Cup.

National team career[edit]

Yaacov played for Israel in the 2022 FIBA U18 European Championship. In seven games he averaged 19.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game.[9] He was selected to the All-Star 5 of the tournament.[2]

Yaacov played for Israel in the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship. In seven games he averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game.[10] He was selected to the All-tournament team.[10]

On 24 February 2023, Yaacov made his debut for the Israeli senior national team, in a 95–97 loss against Finland, recording 12 points and 2 assists, in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup European Qualifiers.[11]

On June 28, 2024, he signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israeli Super League.[12]
