Novodonetske (Ukrainian: Новодонецьке) is a rural settlementinKramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Novodonetske settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.[2] Prior to 2020, it was located in Dobropillia Municipality. The population is 5,597 (2022 estimate).[3]
Novodonetske is located on the banks of the Vodiana river, a tributary of the Samara.
Novodonetske was founded in 1956 in connection with the construction of a mine. Four years later, the settlement was given the status of urban-type settlement.[4]
Until 18 July 2020, Novodonetske was located in Dobropillia Municipality, The municipality was abolished on that day as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight, of which only five were controlled by the government.[5][6]
Until 26 January 2024, Novodonetske was designated urban-type settlement. On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Novodonetske became a rural settlement.[7]
