Perinthatta is a village in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala.[1]

Demographics

As of 2011 Census, Perinthatta village had a population of 5,416 which constitutes 2,564 (47.3%) males and 2,852 (52.7%) females. Perinthatta village spreads over an area of 18.73 km2 (7.23 sq mi) with 1,427 families residing in it. The male female sex ratio was 1,112 higher than state average of 1,084. In Perinthatta, 8.7% of the population were children under 6 years age. Perinthatta had overall literacy of 91.55% higher than national average of 59% and lower than state average of 94%. The male literacy stands at 95.47% and female literacy was 88.08%.[2]

Transportation

The national highway passes through Perumba junction. Goa and Mumbai can be accessed on the northern side and Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram can be accessed on the southern side. The road to the east of Iritty connects to Mysore and Bangalore. The nearest railway station is PayyanuronMangalore-Palakkad line. Trains are available to almost all parts of India subject to advance booking over the internet. There are airports at Kannur, Mangalore and Calicut. All of them are international airports but direct flights are available only to Middle Eastern countries.
