PGU has collaborative agreements in place for research and teaching with several foreign universities.

History

[edit]

Persian Gulf University (PGU) is located in the coastal city of Bushehr. It is a public university accredited by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. It began as a "Technical & Engineering College" with two majors in mechanical and civil engineering when Bushehr University was founded in 1991 and is considered prestigious in Iran's southern region.

PGU consists of eight faculties that offer undergraduate courses leading to bachelor's degrees (B.A.orB.Sc.) in 29 disciplines, postgraduate courses leading to master's degrees (M.A.orM.Sc.) in 54 subjects, and doctoral courses leading to PhD degrees in 12 subjects. The university accepts students who pass the national entrance examination administered annually by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

Over the years, PGU has grown significantly both in terms of academic offerings and research capabilities. It has expanded to include eight faculties, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. These faculties cover a wide range of disciplines including engineering, humanities, arts, architecture, business, and more. The university is particularly noted for its strengths in engineering and technology, aligning with the industrial demands of the southern region of Iran.[3]
