Polymyxa graminis is a species of plasmodiophorid cercozoans. It is an obligate parasiteofplant roots and, though itself non-pathogenic, is responsible for the transmission of several very important plant viruses, including barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) and soil-borne wheat mosaic virus (SBWMV).
