Ramkali Sadh (ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਸਦੁ) is a composition present in Guru Granth Sahib on ang 923/924, composed by Baba Sundar,[1]inRamkali Raga. The composition has 6 stanzas. Sadh literally means Call (ਸੱਦਾ).[2] This narration tells Sikh attitude towards physical death of a Gurmukh.[3] It also narrates events of succession of Gur Ram Das over Gur Amar Das.[4]
Keso Gopal Pandit (ਕੇਸੋ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪੰਡਿਤ) is a qualitative name used for a Sikh in Ramkali Sadu. Here Pundit is not singular but plural. Following is stanza where this name is present:
ਕੇਸੋ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸਦਿਅਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
Traditional commentators thought it to be some historical person during time of Guru Amar Dass.[5] However, linguistically, experts agree 'Keso Gopal Pandit' refers to a learned scholar (Pundit) who has extensive knowledge and wisdom.[6] In Gurmat, Gurmukhi have knowledge of Keso/Gopal. Others believe Guru Amar Das ji to be simply asking to invite 'such a learned scholar(s)', who can read the sermon of the eternal lord, har har.
ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪੜੋਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਰਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ『ਸਦੁ』ਦੇਖੀਦਾ ਹੈ.『ਕਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ.』(ਸਦੁ) "ਨੰਦਨੁ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੰਦ। ਤਿਹ ਨੰਦਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮਤਿਵੰਦ।।"¹ (ਗੁਪ੍ਰਸੂ)
੨. ਸ਼ਬਦ.『ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਦੁ ਸੁਣੇ.』(ਵਾਰ ਕਾਨ ਮਃ ੪) ੩. ਭਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਾ, ਜੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਥੀ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਲੋਕ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ『ਇਕਿ ਵਣਖੰਡਿ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਦੁ ਨ ਦੇਵਹੀ.』(ਵਾਰ ਮਲਾ ਮਃ ੧) ੪. ਉਪਦੇਸ਼.
ਕੇਸੋ ਗੋਪਾਲ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ) ਦੇ ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਘੱਲਿਓ, ਜੋ (ਆ ਕੇ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਵਾਰਤਾ-ਰੂਪ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ।
