Rhytidoponera is a large genusofants in the subfamily Ectatomminae.[2] The genus is known from Australia and Melanesia, with New Caledonia as the most eastern limit.[3]
Some Rhytidoponera species have both winged alate queens and gamergates.[4] All known queenless species of Rhytidoponera are polygynous.[5]
