Interested in geology and geothermal energy from a young age,[1] University of Adelaide in 2001 and is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne .[2] sustainable energy through hot rocks in southern Australia.[1]
In 2008, McLaren received a Victorian Young Tall Poppy Award,[3] [1] Australian Academy of Science 's Dorothy Hill award .[4] Australian Research Council to research the mechanics of hot rocks and subsequently the potential for geothermal energy in Australia.[5] Global Young Academy .[6]
