Giovanni Pietro Damian (born 9 January 2003), known professionally as Sangiovanni, is an Italian singer, rapper and songwriter.[3]

    Biography[edit]

In 2020, Sangiovanni took part at the 20th edition of the Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi, where he won the "Singers" section and finished second overall.[1] He debuted with the EP Sangiovanni in May 2021, which peaked at number one of FIMI's album chart.[4][5]

His most successful song, "Malibu", topped the Italian single chart for four weeks and was certified eight times platinum in Italy for sales exceeding 800,000 copies.[6] On 4 December 2021, his participation at the Sanremo Music Festival 2022 was revealed.[7] He finished fifth overall with the song "Farfalle".[8]

He competed in the Sanremo Music Festival 2024 with the song "Finiscimi".[9][10]

In February 2024 he announced that he would take a break from music due to health problems. Following this decision the release of the new album and the related concert event were cancelled.[11]
