Shilen Patel is an American businessman, majority shareholder and chairman of English association football club West Bromwich Albion who play in the Championship.

In February 2024, Patel completed the takeover of West Bromwich Albion from Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai acquiring an 87% shareholding in the club via his company Bilkul Football WBA owned by Patel and his father Kiran. Patel also owns a minority shareholding in Italian Serie A club Bologna which he has held since 2014.[1] He is the first Indian American to own a club in any of England's top leagues.[2]

Personal life[edit]

He is based in Florida, where he is the founder and CEO of HealthAxis Group, a software company based in Tampa, the city where he was born.[3][4] In 2024, his net worth was estimated at $100 million (£79.5 million).[5] He is the son of Dr Kiran C Patel, a Zambian-born, Florida based businessman and entrepreneur.[6]
