Untitled[edit]

Two facts about the '95 Tribe are wrong. They did not bat .300 as a team; it was .291. Their pitching was not a weak spot. They easily led the league in team ERA w/ a 4.22 v. 4.44 for #2 and 4.74 for #3 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.241.78.161 (talk) 01:55, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:World Series Logo 1995.png[edit]

Image:World Series Logo 1995.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"Politically Incorrect World Series"[edit]

I deleted this part of the article because nobody calls it that, which a simple Google search confirms. The original authur obviously wrote their personal feelings as facts, which is wrong. The names of the teams are fairly characterized as politically incorrect, but the term is not used commonly at all to reference the 1995 World Series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.92.146 (talk) 03:27, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reversions back to false information[edit]

The article previously stated falsely that there are four major U.S. sports, when in fact there are now five. The chart at Sports in the United States#Popular team sports shows that soccer is now in fact fourth, and that hockey (one of the supposed "big four" cited by the user) is actually a distant fifth in most columns, and closely comparable in the one other. This in turns means that the statement that the Braves have won the only championship in Atlanta pro sports history is also false since Atlanta United FC won the 2018 MLS Cup. I edited the article to reflect the facts, however another editor continues to repeatedly revert back to the false information almost immediately every time.

Because of this, I'm asking for my fellow editors to please monitor the page and to ensure that this correct information remains in it, and that the now-false information does not return. (Rephrase it as you wish, just keep the it factual and not relying on an old fact that is now a misnomer since it is no longer true.) Thanks!  –radiojon (talk) 05:01, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Again, this is not "false information". The NHL, not hockey in general, is one of the 4 major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. This hasn't changed with the advent of the MLS, though that may change in the future. Please stop being disruptive. - BilCat (talk) 05:19, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
