I just have a question. Is this article really about an event that will be important historically? I mean, this is certainly an important current event, but I'm not certain that it deserves its OWN article. Perhaps a paragrapgh under one of the many terrorism-themed articles? --Dante Alighieri
It is hard to be objective about recent events such as these. I imagine than in a decade or so, given a little more dostance, all these articles (Bali bomb, etc) will be refactored into "Terrorism in the 1990s-2000s" or something. -- Tarquin
It's much easier to deal with discrete, individual events than to merge them into an interconnected entry, especially before the interconnections are made clear.
I added more about the suspects in this bombing being harbored in Somalia. There was even mention made of one of the suspects acting as a commander of the Islamicist forces in an attack on a Somali government town. I've also made note on the Al-Qaeda page, and of course in the Somali Civil War entry. --Petercorless 21:19, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
When checking references for accuracy I found (corrected) a couple minor goofs. There were great details in the NYT, I put some of those in without adding too much bulk.
I did remove the one-sentence paragraph that said that al-Qaeda claimed responsibility on their website because that's unverifiable.
What does APF stand for? It would be good to be able to say who the Somalian official was talking to when he claimed he saw one of the suspects leading a battle.
I think we should go very cautiously about saying we know who or what was responsible for this bombing considering the loaded international situation right now. Although accusations were made, the people who committed these murders and attempted murders were not caught at the time, and I don't see that anyone was ever convicted by the courts of Kenya, Israel or the US for them. Even as loyal US citizens it behooves us to maintain a Worldwide Neutral Point of View - Pakistani Muslims use and write for Wikipedia just like U.S. Presbyterians do, and in the years to come we may look back and see that categorizing this news item as "Islamist Terrorism" would be like calling it "Catholic Bombing" in the '70s, or "Jewish Terror" in the '30s.
"Just the facts, ma'am."

All the indications are that the attacks were Islamist terrorism. Jim Michael (talk) 11:03, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
