Update this page..

[edit]

Shouldn't this page be updated in light of recent events? Mass stabbings in Jerusalem and other Israeli towns, riots and stone throwing in West Bank, plus Hamas have stated officially that the third Intifada has begun? There has even come a "Third Intifada" manifesto from other Palestinian groups. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.219.227.29 (talk) 15:58, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Have there been any RS that link this as part of the same "silent intifada" as last year? - GalatzTalk 23:57, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

incipient?

[edit]

Is this...a good word to use? It means "beginning to exist or appear" but that sounds...obscure and fanciful. Can we just say "beginning" or something like that? hbdragon88 (talk) 06:27, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 19 December 2015

Silent IntifadaLate 2014 Israeli-Palestinian unrest – The term "Silent Intifada" is too vague. The name in the Hebrew Wikipedia is "Palestinian and Israeli Arab unrest (2014)", noting that "Silent Intifada" is just a name used by public. Other names used are "Wave of riots in East Jerusalem" or "Wave of violent protests in East Jerusalem". Since the violence spread to other places such as Kana village in the north and saw protests all over Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, I offer the name Late 2014 Israeli-Palestinian unrest --Bolter21 (talk to me) 14:07, 19 December 2015 (UTC) Bolter21 (talk to me) 14:07, 19 December 2015 (UTC) Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 11:18, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Based on WP:COMMONNAME, this is the common name used in English reporting. Just because in Hebrew it might be different doesn't mean that the English page needs to follow the Hebrew, we follow the commonly recognized name. - GalatzTalk 16:52, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, violence spread to other places in the region including Kfar Kanna in Northern Israel, Petah Titkwa in Central Israel and also into the West Bank. Maybe "Jerusalem" is better since most of the violence indeed occured in Jerusalem but not all the significant events. July-November makes sense.. --Bolter21 (talk to me) 13:35, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes the epicenter of events is the descriptor of events. The Syrian Civil War has spillovers all over the region (Iraq, Lebanon, Jordanian and Israeli borders, Turkey, Iraq and further locations like Libya and even Europe), but still we name it "the Syrian Civil War"+spillovers. Sources name the 2014 violence frequently "J-m unrest": "Hamas: Jerusalem unrest could 'spark new explosion' in Israeli-Palestinian conflict", "UN holds emergency session on Jerusalem unrest","Jerusalem unrest prompts fears of third intifada", "Kerry and Abbas discuss Jerusalem unrest".GreyShark (dibra) 17:16, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't oppse Jerusalem completely.. If there would be more support for that I would go with that. You see, I go by the agenda in "Israeli-Palestinian conflict (2015)" in which for some odd reason people insisted not to have a name such as "Palestinian unrest" because they strictly claimed that the two Jewish attacks (of which one was accidently aimed against Jews) are enough to not call this a "Palestinian unrest/wave of violence" and write "Israeli-Palestinian" even though over 140 people were killed in terror attacks of Palestinian protsts and wounded figure goes between 3000 to 14000, all of which injured by IDF forces during violent protests, a number of over 1,500 rock/molotov throwing incidnets is not enough to cover up less then few dozens recorded Israeli rock throwing incident and even though the whole Palestinian media calls it an "Intifada", the Israelis call it an "Intifada" or a "(Limited) Uprising" (according to IDF) and even the Arabic article call it "Palestinian Uprising"...
So, if you think the spillover is not enough to include all of the region, am with you. --Bolter21 (talk to me) 18:20, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 22 June 2016

The result of the move request was: moved, unopposed. There still seems some debate about whether this is the absolutely ideal title, but clearly it's superior to the current one so no need to let this drag out. No prejudice against a new RM at some point in the future. Jenks24 (talk) 04:23, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Silent Intifada2014 Jerusalem unrest – In line with the my suggestion in previous rename/move discussion, where "Intifada" (uprising) seems to be a strong politically-motivated and loaded exaggeration of the relatevely minor event - the WP:COMMONNAME appears to be "Jerusalem unrest" "Hamas: Jerusalem unrest could 'spark new explosion' in Israeli-Palestinian conflict", "UN holds emergency session on Jerusalem unrest","Jerusalem unrest prompts fears of third intifada", "Kerry and Abbas discuss Jerusalem unrest" with some minor spillover incidents around Jerusalem and in the West Bank, which are referred as related to the Jerusalem unrest.
