My thoughts behind the formatting of the timeline.

[edit]

Hey all. I wanted to explain how I formatted the timeline. The Revival is spread across multiple campuses, venues, and denominational lines. For a slew of reasons, I think it is important to separate what is happening on Asbury's campus (the seminary and the university) and at other institutions, so on days when something significant happened at another institution, it's separately noted in a new row with some context in the notes. I have a feeling there will be individual churches that have services, simulcasts, etc., but unless an individual congregation is significant, I don't think that it warrants a specific mention. Other institutions of higher learning I think are a different story and warrant special mention. Somethingdiscrete (talk) 04:33, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Revival vs. Outpouring

[edit]

Is there a reason that the word revival is used rather than outpouring, as used by Asbury University and others? Shouldn't outpouring be used now, until at a later point the event could potentially be classified as a revival? Mrwoogi010 17:01, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

From what I've seen, "Revival" is the word most people have used - if you want to start an RM with ref's to show this wording, feel free. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 20:02, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've been pondering the same thing. It seems to me like Asbury sources (students and official sources) call it an outpouring, but the media is covering it as a revival. Somethingdiscrete (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:42, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Attendees

[edit]

Does anyone have sources on reliable estimates of the number of attendees? That has certainly become a topic of discussion as Asbury moves to limit who is on campus. Fox News is claiming 50,000 and this is the first time I've seen a major news network claim a number. Somethingdiscrete (talk) 03:45, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Email from President

[edit]

It's been reported in a few places that very early on, the principal sent an email inviting everybody to the event. I think this is important for the timeline and alleged "spontaneity" but it is removed when I've add it. 74.192.72.131 (talk) 01:07, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts on the Timeline

[edit]

I attended the revival from the very first day. I have a picture before leaving on the first night (Feb 9 2am) There were probably 30-40 at that time, so the estimate is probably a bit high. (the picture did not capture a few people on mattresses behind me). I am interested in answering any questions and filling in substantiated details.
