Restoration of NPOV

[edit]

I added a little bit of additional context, as well as the classic charge of apartheid to the article, as well as add a couple of "allegedly"'s to try to tone down the POV. Nevertheless, the article currently has a strong anti mainlander bias, accusing them of being carpetbaggers and "not caring" and so forth. Also, I added a note about the term "native Taiwanese" which can otherwise be misleading, though I have to admit my solution is not ideal IMHO. Nevertheless, I think the article is a good one, and should be expanded on and reworked to reach NPOV. Ngchen 02:33, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is the note about the native Taiwanese at the top really needed? I think that is quite a biased paragraph. People do know what native means. 82.5.14.55 19:45, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, when one considers the history of Taiwan, the term "native" can be quite ambiguous. Without clarifying what is meant by "native," an uninformed reader could easily assume erroneously that the "natives" are the original aboriginal peoples. I don't see how the paragraph in question is itself biased.

This article has been copied and pasted almost entirely from Answers.com... are we allowed to do that? And, really, should we be? Joyskii 22:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I beleive answers.com copied this article from wikipedia. Ngchen 02:13, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
