Confusion[edit]

I probably sound bitter, but how does this nobody Jon Baptiste get nominated ELEVEN times? I'm heavily active on the music-focused internet, and I haven't heard anyone say anything about him. Someone should add something about how shocking this is, and how him and H.E.R (no pun intended) are making it so the academy can snub more people. Look at the article for List of awards and nominations received by Jon Batiste. Some of his 11 nominations for this ceremony are for the Oscar-winning animated film he worked on, Soul. His works during the eligibility year were critically acclaimed, which caused him to submit his works of the eligibility year to the Recording Academy. Please understand the Recording Academy only nominates works based on critical reception and quality, which causes other artists around the world to never receive a Grammy nomination. An exception of this case is BTS, who made history as the first Korean group to be nominated for a Grammy last year. Their music was praised by critics and submitted their studio album, Map of the Soul: 7, which never received a Grammy nomination. Not all famous artists get nominated for a Grammy since some of them were never nominated for a Grammy. Some Grammy nominees and winners of each year are actually not famous as they intend to release their music independently. This ceremony is a case of an artist with the most nominations who is actually not famous, but still gets praised by critics. A2013a (talk) 03:24, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree with you, but a decent amount of work gets nominated because of the artist's starpower. The Grammy awards should focus on either substance OR mainstream popularity, but they do a strange mix of both. The Grammy committee doesn't really care about art. How did 1989 by Taylor Swift win over To Pimp a Butterfly? How did 24k Magic by Bruno Mars win over Lorde's Melodrama? Popularity. If there was quality control at the Academy, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga wouldn't be nominated for every pop award. Anfwepgnrwfinre (talk) 17:28, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy section[edit]

Should the "Controversy" section really be called that? There isn't anything controversial there, or atleast it isn't shown in the paragraph that's written. Something like "Rule changes" would seem more appropriate. Lakituskip (talk) 22:07, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
